2. Undergraduate Honors
[Pulliam]
11/22/16 Proposal: To be eligible for the high honors designation at graduation, undergraduate students must have completed at least 100 hours at IIT. The existing policy can be found here: http://bulletin.iit.edu/undergraduate/academic-policiesprocedures/graduation/graduation-with-honors/
Pulliam will form an ad hoc committee to discuss the honors policy. Anyone interested in discussing possible revisions to the honors policy criteria should contact him.

Minor revisions have been made to the previously approved degrees.
The BS in Computational Chemistry and Biochemistry has been significantly revised with input from CS, ITM, and Biology. Two additional computer science courses and 1 biochemistry course have been added to the degree, with possible additional electives from ITM. Discussion noted that 1) CS 110 was not a prerequisite for CS 201 and therefore could not be used interchangeably with CS 105 and 2) that CS 331 is 3 credit hour course (not 2 credit hour).
4. BS in Applied Mathematics -Change the CS
course sequence [R. Ellis Mathematics]
The Math department is revising the CS course sequence so students do not get credit for CS 104 +CS 105 + 115, because the content is too similar. Instead students should take a sequence of courses. Revised Sequences include: CS 115 & CS 116 (4 credits total), or CS 115 & CS 116 (4 credits total), or CS 104 & CS 115 (4 credits total), or CS 104 & CS 201 (6 credits total), or CS 105 & CS 201 (6 credits total) CS 105 & CS 201 (6 credits total)
This change has been applied to the BS in Applied Math. It does not change the credit hours, and is presented as an informational item. Discussion followed about the prerequisites for CS 201. Some transfer credit students have gone straight into CS 201 because CS 105 was not offered in the fall semester. CS confirmed that CS 105 will be offered in the fall going forward.
5. Premedical Studies Minor [K. Spink Biology]
BME450 Animal Physiology is an option in this minor. BME has
replaced BME 450 with BME453 Quantitative Physiology, changing this minor
option. This is an informational item.
6. Discussion of transfer credit for
courses without necessary prerequisites. [G. Welter UGAA]
Question: What is the policy for transfer of a course if student does not have the IIT prerequisite? UGAA will not transfer a course without a prerequisite until the prerequisite is fulfilled. If the department offering a course waives a prerequisite, then it is waived but the credit hours must be substituted.
7. Other New Business [Trygstad]

8. Next UGSC meeting [Trygstad]
