Meeting chaired by Fred Weening.
Minutes recorded by Greg Pulliam.
Quorum declared at 12:46 p.m.
Adjourn at: 1:47 p.m.
1. Approval of minutes from 11/8/2022: The minutes were approved by unanimous consent.
2. Continued discussion (Menhart): Does IIT retain Core Curriculum learning objective calling for all IIT UG students to be able to communicate scientific knowledge to lay members of the general public? Or just science majors? The following motion was approved by unanimous consent: “UGSC supports keeping the N Learning Objective 3 as a core LO, but since this is an IIT-wide core LO, wishes to receive full faculty input and will defer a final recommendation until Spring 2023 after full outreach to IIT faculty and administrative offices.”
3. Core Curriculum Learning Objectives for IPRO, Communication-Intensive, Humanities, and Math courses have yet to be approved (Menhart).
4. Continued discussion (Weening) of the UG Bulletin’s language describing the criteria for assigning an -I- (Incomplete) grade for a course. Committee members have noted the language in the UG Bulletin is vague relative to the language in the Graduate Bulleting. Chair Weening, J. Orgel and perhaps others to come up with new/revised language for the UG Bulletin.
Adjourn.
