Minutes of the 11/13/2018 meeting.
Approved
unanimously with amendment (deletion of M. AWL (AFROTC) from
attending members list.

Business
2. New BS
in Science, Technology & Society (Rosenberg,
Segerstrale, Bliss).
- Power

Science 493 – internship and significant amount of academic
work
- It
is not mandatory, but optional
- Provost
asked faculty to reduce the number of programs and degrees offered
- This
program will replace some of the programs that are not popular any
more
- Pre-med
minor may be one of the minors added to the program
- The
list of minors added were programs that can be completed within the
duration of the program, and some other minors would require at
least one more semester and thus were not considered
- Could
research methods course be from the humanities? (Yes)
- The
minor controlling authorities can make substitutions within the
minor programs
- There
are students who complete a substantial number of courses in certain
area, but those courses do not add up to any existing minor. But
perhaps new minor could be created to support student interest.
- Include
rules within the proposal itself for what will be considered for
STEM minor
3. Other
new business

course criteria proposed; there is E committee working on similar
thing…
- It
was brought up again that the people who are on the committees for
each designation (C, H, S, N, E, and perhaps create designation M
for math) are supposed to meet and develop criteria for each
