The UGSC discussed the definitions of "Graduation with Honors."

It is moved and seconded that

There be three categories of graduation with honors: cum laude, summa cum

laude and magna cum laude.

The motion passes.

It is moved and seconded that

A vote on the levels of GPA required for the graduation with honors be put off until the UGSC can confirm statistics on the percentage of students graduating at various levels of GPA.

The motion passes (17/0).

The UGSC notes that it should consider the timing for the change, with special consideration for how a change may affect students presently seeking degrees.

Prof. Stagliano presented a proposal for a joint degree program with the Illinois College of Optometry leading to an IIT BS in Biology (in the fourth year) and an ICO Doctor of Optometry (in the seventh year).

The UGSC reviewed the draft ìUndergraduate Studies Committee Report on a Change of General Education Requirement to a Minimum of Three-credit of Interprofessional Projects.î It is moved and seconded that

The Report be sent to the University Faculty Council, with minor editing changes.

The motion passes (10/0).

Noting that IPROs are a component in the Communications Across the Curriculum program, Prof. Broadhead provides the UGSC with suggestions for modifications to CAC that would compensate for a reduction in the IPRO component.
