Old business

1) Co-Terminal BS in Computer Science/MS in Intellectual Property Management & Markets passes unanimously. http://www.iit.edu/~ugsc/documents/BS_CS_%20MS_IPMM.doc

 

Co-Terminal BS in Computer Science/MS in Applied Mathematics passes unanimously. http://www.iit.edu/~ugsc/documents/BS_CS_MS_AMAT.doc

 

1a) Information item: Federal funding may be an issue with 5^th-year students who are receiving it and are in co-terminal degree programs.  The university is looking into this issue.

 

New Business

2) (Pulliam) – Co-terminal BS in Digital Humanities and MS in Information Architecture passes unanimously. http://www.iit.edu/~ugsc/documents/DHBSMSIArch_Revision5.docx

 

3) (Bauer) Information item: CS dept has approved (and informed UGAA) of this

update to the description of what counts as a Computer science elective in

both CS and CIS BS degrees:

Any computer science course at the 300-level or higher (including graduate

CS courses) may be used as a computer science elective, except CS 401, CS

402, CS 403 and CS 406. ECE 218 - Digital Systems and ECE 441 -

Microcomputers may also be used as computer science electives. 300-level or

higher mathematics or computational science courses can also be used as

computer science electives with CS department approval. 

 

4) (Pulliam) Discussion item: Interdisciplinary degree programs—two issues:

-Where to house orphan interdisciplinary programs

-Suggested procedure for creating, vetting and bringing interdisciplinary programs to the UGSC

Pulliam will begin looking into the latter and will report back.

Members should discuss the former with their chairs, who may wish to bring it to their deans for further consideration.

 

5) (Bauer) General Education Program assessment for NCA and what to do about it. Chair to raise issue with NCA Accreditation Committee and with the Dean of Assessment.

 

6) Nominations open for UGSC Chair 2013-2014.  Jack Snapper (HUM) nominated by Pulliam. Nominations by email to continue until further notice. Noted: final UFC meeting may be 4/5, making 4/4 a possible deadline for nominations.
