The minutes for September 8, 2020 were approved by unanimous consent.

2.  IAI Working Group Proposal: Curriculum change. This item was postponed until the next meeting in order to get appropriate Bulletin language drafted. Ray Trygstad proposed the following, slightly amended by Pulliam:

One course in this module may be selected from any Humanities (H) course, any Social or Behavioral Science (S) course, or any COM course except COM 101 or COM 111.

3.  IAI Working Group Proposal: Policy for transferring IAI GECC course work into IIT.  Vote was 16-1 in favor, with one abstention.

5.  Course designation subcommittees for approving new S, C, N, H (and E?) courses. They are:

S - J. Miller, P. Ireland; H - E. Hazard, G. Pulliam;  C - G. Pulliam; N - Y. Lin, S. Hong; E - uncertain--perhaps CSEP Director?

The chair asked P. Troyk and G. Pulliam to look into the history of Ethics Across the Curriculum efforts in the past.

6. Information item: Correction of bulletin entry for BS in FDSN.

7.  Student Course Evaluations and Teaching Quality discussion. Matt Bauer (CS) and Carol Emmons are working on a redesign of the course and teaching evaluation process at the request of the Faculty Council, and brought it to the UGSC for discussion and input, as they will also do with the Graduate Studies Committee. Discussion centered on the number of questions and whether it was too many, and on how IIT will ensure a high enough response rate. Theere may be further discussion of this in the future.
